He has reached the pinnacle of success as an actor in the Hindi film industry and is hailed as the 'King' of Bollywood, but Shahrukh Khan says he fails to understand the reason behind his popularity.

The 45-year-old actor, who rose to fame through his hard work without any film connections, says he has never been able to analyse how he became a movie star.
"I've never understood why I succeeded as an actor. I went from Delhi to Mumbai at the age of 22 and eventually became a movie star, but I've never been able to analyse my success," said Shahrukh.

His parents died when he was young and the 'Ra. One' star says he does films to make them proud and this target makes him invincible in the industry.

"I wanted to make movies so big that my parents can see my success from above. No one can compete with me because no one else has this target," said SRK, who was in the capital to launch management guru Arindam Chaudhuri's new book 'Thorns to Competition'.
The actor, who began his Bollywood journey with the film 'Deewana' in 1992 and went on to deliver hits like 'Dil To Pagal Hai' and 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', said he is obsessed about his career and does everything for himself.

"I am obsessed about my career. I do my job for me, not for anyone - not for my son or daughter or wife. I want to die in the flash of lights from the camera - that's how obsessed I am," he said.

From endorsing men's fairness creams to dancing at weddings, Shahrukh has broken a number of conventions and has no qualms in admitting that he does all that to earn money.
"I don't come for free so I am very cheap. You can make me do an item number in films, dance at a wedding, do street theatre as long as it makes people smile. I sell dreams, I think I can sell anything. Life comes with a price tag and a little money makes living easier."

I haven't understood my success as an actor: Shah Rukh Khan

He isn't the Bollywood Badshah for nothing! Superstar Shah Rukh Khan not just believes he is the best, he is confident that no one can compete with him because others "don't run the same race" as him.

The 45-year-old charmer talked uninhibited about his success story, and narrated how he gives 'thorns to competition' at the launch of an eponymous book on marketing, co-authored by management guru and film producer Arindam Chaudhuri and his wife, Rajita.

SRK shared his experience with his first producer, who was keen to know why the "thin and dark" young man with "hair like a bear", wanted to join filmdom.

"I told him - 'I want to make people smile because it makes me happy.' He said - 'This is very ideological. Genuinely, tell me why do you want to be a movie star?'

"I told him my ideology, which is my ideology even now... I told him that my parents have died. So I want to make movies so damn bloody big... that my parents somewhere sit down on a star and from there also can look at their son and say 'I can see his movies from here better than I can see the Wall of China or anything. We see his movies covering the face of this earth'," added Shah Rukh, explaining the importance of setting the right targets in life.

"That is my target. It may seem a bit too much of self-importance, but I don't think anyone can compete with me because they don't have a target like that... I have a genuine emotional target. So you've got to know your target," he added to a thunderous applause.

Shah Rukh, or King Khan as he is lovingly called, may have many rivals in the film industry but he says he deals with competition a little differently.

"I hit my competition hard by deciding not to play the game. I choose to change the game and I choose to select films that are so different from what the others do so that they don't remain my competition because they don't run the same race.

"Winning is not about trying to undermine someone's success... what you need to do is to go on the parallel road! You decide that you go and change the game. In my life, I have always decided to change the game....

"I am making the biggest film this country has ever made ('RA.One') and I will be proud even if it flops and does not succeed because I want to change the game I play. I do not want to be in the same playing field as others," said the actor, who is said to have invested over Rs.150 crore in the making of the superhero film.

Shah Rukh has been in Bollywood since he made his debut in 1992 with "Deewana" and year after year he has been enthralling viewers with entertainers like "Baazigar", "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge", " Kuch Kuch Hota Hai", "Devdas", "Swades", "Chak De! India" and "My Name Is Khan", and says: "I want to die giving the last shot of my film."

"I am a big believer of selling dreams. Everything comes at a price... life comes at a price tag of death itself. Except for the emotions that parents and children share, everything is for sale... I don't come for free either. You can make me do an item number in films, dance at a wedding, do street theatre as long as it makes people smile. I am a proud seller of dreams... and as long as it makes people smile, I will do it," he said.

Actor-producer Shah Rukh Khan's latest offering, Ra.One, has roped in UTV Indiagames to design a social game based on the film. A first in India, the social game would be based on the character G.One and would have its own identity.

The game is part of Red Chillies' efforts to woo users in the digital space. The company is investing around $3-4 million (Rs 13-18 crore) for the film's online promotion. "This is different from what we have done so far in Bollywood. Games have been used as part of the marketing strategy. But these (social games) are just one-off games. In the case of Ra.One, we work with the character and create stories around it," says UTV Indiagames chief executive Vishal Gondal.

Social games are played as a way of social interaction. Successful social games include Farmville, Cityville and Mafia War. Globally, social gaming is a $1-billion market. According to the Ficci-KPMG Indian Media and Entertainment Industry Report 2011, India accounts for an estimated 8-10 million social media gamers. Zynga, one of the most successful social game developers, has close to 270 million active monthly users, with almost five per cent of this base paying to play an advance version of the game.

Indiagames has already invested around Rs 4.5 crore in developing the game. The social games would be based on a freemium model, which means while the primary game would be free, users would have to pay for advanced features and accessories. Each of these microtransactions would range between Rs 5 and Rs 100. The social games targeted at the mass market would be launched across platforms like mobiles, tablet PCs, the direct-to-home platform and social networking sites like Facebook.

"The games would also be targeted at gamers across countries. People who know about Shah Rukh Khan and Ra.One would probably come and play, but the idea is to take it to gamers who like to play superhero games," says Gondal.

According to Red Chillies Entertainment digital and new media head Shailja Gupta, the idea behind the digital marketing is to create a franchisee for Ra.One. "Social gaming is just one part of the digit marketing strategy. The unique part of the social game is the integration of merchandise and gaming. Never before has anyone tried this model in India," she says.

UTV Indiagames would also develop digital comics based on the Ra.One character. The comic available for the mobile platform would have weekly episodes. Gupta explains G.One is first of-its-kind Indian superhero brand with full-fledged merchandising and licensing plans. "In a novel approach, G.One transforms the character of a silver screen superhero into a multifaceted franchise, from graphic novels to social games and action figures. The G.One brand and the franchise has been conceptualised keeping in mind two identities—G.One and Little G.One—who live in parallel universes. We bring to you action figures, toys, graphic novels, home furnishing, fashion accessories, back-to-school, mobile, social and console games, graphic card, mobiles and much more," she adds.

As part of the digital strategy, Red Chillies, along with UTV Indiagames, would also launch digital comics for the mobile platform. The comics would have weekly episodes for users. Gupta adds the company plans to build on the superhero concept, rather than just Shah Rukh Khan. "We want to create an experience for the user around Ra.One, and we would want to exploit the digital medium for this experience," said Gupta. In case of the Ra.One social game, the business model would be similar to what is being used online, except the merchandising aspect would be much more integrated. The merchandise to be sold in the market would have a coupon with a unique code. This would allow the user to get information on the game and also initiate them into it. It would also have a reward system, through which a gamer can buy virtual merchandise and goods.

Console game manufacturer and developer Sony Playstation will develop the game for its various consoles. Ra.One-The Game, would be available for all PSP models. Sony PS has developed a full-cycle console game, which offers more than 20 game environments. The total cost of developing and promoting the game is over $1 million.

Says Chetan Bhagat, whose next book, Revolution 2020, hits book stands this October. The author speaks on corruption, coming of age as a writer and his detractors even as he lends his support to Anna Hazare at the Ramleela Maidan in New Delhi

Your next, Revolution 2020, is particularly relevant in Anna Hazare's India. What prompted you to write it?

I started writing it two years ago, well before Anna Hazare happened. The rebellious nature of young people is something I have explored even in my earlier books. Revolution is inevitable. I am lucky that I will release the book in the middle of a revolution.

My premonition, about a major public uprise in India, came true. When I travel for my talks, I see a lot of resentment among the youth. The government is disconnected in terms of providing them a good college or a job.The book deals with corruption in the education sector. It's set in present day India and the revolution, that will change the system, will come in 2020.

You have set it in Varanasi, in small town India. Why?
I feel the voices in small town India are not heard enough. I can bring their stories alive in an interesting manner. If you switch on the tv, whatever happens in the metros is given attention. Besides, seventy per cent of my readers are in small town India.

Does Varanasi become one of the characters?
I wanted to focus on up. It's the biggest state in the country and has a lot of youth. It's one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world. The general perception about the city is that people go there to wash away their sins. The place is typically associated with sadhus. It's an interesting contrast because the oldest city in the country yearns for modernity.

Your settings are always off beat.
I like it that way. I have travelled to Varanasi four times for this book, met the local youth there and literally pulled young people from the streets and made them sit down and tell me about the city.

This book revolves around a love triangle between two boys and a girl. But aren't love triangles outdated?
Yes. There have been many love triangles. But what's different about this one is that everybody knows everything here. Most love stories have a lot of unspoken things among the characters. This one's much darker than what bollywood does. The girl likes both the guys. The characters are not secure about their love.  I think I have come of age. It's not a sugary sweet love story. People are thinking something and saying something else. Today it's no longer about I love you, you love me. It's about: I love you, but I also have a backup.

Would you say this is your most serious work till date?
It's more emotional and has more drama. I will never do a very serious book, unless I become that kind of a person and I don't think I am that kind of a person. I could write a serious column but never a serious book. If you're genuine, people sit up and take notice. The lightness about the book gives it a bigger reach. I don't want to be so self indulgent that I disappoint my readers. I anyway get to do serious writing, through op eds in newspapers. I have written about corruption and boycotting Commonwealth games in these columns.

You haven't got rid of any of your superstitions. You still have numerical titles, work with the same publisher, release your book either in May or October and name your protagonist after one of the 108 names of Krishna. Will this book also be priced at the standard R 95?
I don't think so. My publisher will not be able to make a profit in that case. As for releasing my book in those two months, May is when summer vacation starts and in October, you have Dassera. People are in a mood to shop then. Including a number in the title is something even my publisher insists on.

Two of your previous books have been made into Bollywood films. Will this one follow suit?
It can make a nice film. There's a good chance. I would have a say on the director but not on the cast. Many production houses have approached me after reading the draft. There was a time when I was fascinated by Bollywood. But it's no longer a priority. I already have a readership of 1 crore and 13 lakh fans on Facebook.

Who else has read the draft?
Friends, cousins, people in the younger age group have loved it. I have got great feedback even from editors who are big critics of my work.

So are your detractors still going strong?
(Laughs) Oh yes. They are alive and kicking. I like people to be softer on me. But if they want to vent, it's ok. Sometimes criticism  helps. I' m much more calmer about criticism now. I think people have made up their minds about me as I have been around for a while. There's a difference between opinion and bias. If you condemn anything I write, you're biased against me. The idea is to make an impact, which I do.

But not everyone reads your book because they like your work.
They may not be a fan of my writing, but of the topics I have chosen. Some people read my books because they want to know what the hype is all about. It's like an SRK  film.

Would you agree that your success has given birth to a generation of amateur writers who now have the courage to get their work published and mostly centre their stories around themes associated with you:
college romance, young corporate India etc?

If people try formulae, it won't work. It has to be something different. A super humble book can also create excitement. The biggest films will release in October, but people will read my book also in the same month. And that's exciting to me.

What do you read?
I like books like Freakonomics, books by Malcolm gladwell and those on popular psychology. I have to catch up on my reading now that I am done with my book.

Kareena has earlier gyrated to veteran actress Helen's chartbuster song 'Yeh Mera Dil' in ShahRukh's film 'Don-The Chase Begins' (2006). Yash Chopra will now have to wait till next year to make his directorial comeback. The film starring Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif was supposed to go on floors this November. However, thanks to SRK, all plans and schedules for the venture have been postponed. The project will now go on floors in March 2012.

Reportedly, Shah Rukh has decided to take a (rather well deserved, we believe) break with his family after the release of RA.One. "Shah Rukh is responsible for the film being pushed back. He will start shooting only in February next year or may be even March," said the source.

Explaining what transpired, our source revealed, "He told Yash Chopra that he first wants to get done with RA.One and Don 2, which are supposed to release in October and December respectively this year. After that, he wants to go on a one-month long holiday with his family."

While Chopra has not expressed any problem with the delay, the industry is abuzz with speculations about Katrina's reaction to this latest development. "Katrina has a busy schedule and so adjusting her dates for the same will be quite a challenge," added the source.

When contacted, the YRF spokesperson said, "We are starting with the schedule in January." Despite repeated attempts, SRK remained unavailable for comment.

More and more Bollywood movies going the 3-Dimensional way

If recent developments are any indication, it looks like the film industry is going all out to add the third dimension in the forthcoming ventures. One might attribute it to the hist status of Vikram Bhatt's Haunted, that is inspiring more filmmakers to make their movies in 3D. The latest is that Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, producer and director of Don - The Chase Begins Again, are keen to take their sequel with Shah Rukh Khan to the new level.

A movie still from Don - The Chase Begins Again

And apart from dubbing in Tamil and Telugu, Don 2 will also be released in 3D in the two south-Indian languages, besides Hindi, on December 23. "Looking at the demand for the brand Don, we decided on the 3D format. We first did a few 3D conversion tests on the earlier Don and the outcome was very good," enthuses Ritesh, adding that while shooting the sequel, the 3D version was always at the back of Farhan's mind.

The producer further continues, "Since Farhan felt that the new format would make the Don experience even more memorable and exciting, we decided to go ahead with the 3D format. I was in Los Angeles recently and saw some 3D conversion tests and was totally blown by the effect."

Moving on after Haunted, Bhatt is making not one, but two movies in 3D; Raaz 3 and Dangerous Ishq. Shirish Kunder has completed a schedule of Joker, his 3D film with Akshay Kumar and Sohail Khan will start his Sher Khan with Salman Khan next year.

What is the difference between a superhero and a superstar? Both are idolized by millions and beloved by hordes of fans. Both make us believe in the unimaginable. So are they really that far apart? Bollywood badshaah Shahrukh Khan seems to think so, and he should know as a superstar playing a superhero in his upcoming film Ra.One.

"A superhero's larger purpose is always very selfless and a superstar's larger purpose is to stick to films," SRK explained. "I'm not selfless. My highest purpose in life is to make a great film." That's quite a bit of honesty coming from an actor, who are often considered modern-day heroes.

Any mention of Ra.One get SRK talking about his pet project. His character in the film, G.One, is said to be made up of "solid electricity". It seems the new technological era has lent itself well to a new kind of superhero. "In olden times, superheroes could come from planets because they were out of understanding. Now, the quantum part is more difficult to understand than the macro part of it." Ra.One will take the superhero mythology in a new direction, hoping to separate itself from the plethora of popular comic book heroes. "We felt that if we took the modern, new creation [Internet] of man and say a superhero and super villain can be created out of it, that would be really unique."

Praise for the film has already been pouring in, even though it is set to release on Diwali, which is months away yet. "The other day, somebody told me my car shot is like Krrish and GI Joe: Rise of the Cobra. It didn't happen, so we did it digitally. If I had known we'll go digital, I'd have done it even bigger."

But being righteous and heroic isn't the only thing on Shahrukh Khan's plate. Releasing soon after Ra.One will be the Farhan Akhtar directorial sequel Don 2, which releases in December. "As an actor, it's good fun – to be so evil and be so good. It's very exciting. I have this cool look, long hair and beard in [Don 2]."

Whether good, bad, or somewhere in-between, we love to see Shahrukh Khan on the silver screen!

Anubhav Sinha, who is directing Shah Rukh Khan in sci-fi movie 'Ra.One,' says he realised the importance of content after his stylish film 'Cash' bombed at the Box Office.

The director feels he got carried away by the success of his third film, Abhishek Bachchan-Sanjay Dutt starrer `Dus`. "After working day in and night out for `Ra.One`, I have realised why I couldn`t deliver a success with `Cash`. I started appreciating form more than content. By concentrating on the technique, I failed in my story telling," Anubhav told reporters.

His `Dus` (2005) was one of the most technically advanced films to have hit the Indian screens but Anubhav could not replicate the success with his 2007 movie `Cash`.

"Everyone started calling me as a stylish director whose strength lied in capturing cutting edge frames. People who came to me wanted me to make a cool looking film and I got carried away," said Anubhav.

This is when the director started looking at `Ra.One` differently and a series of conversations with lead star Shah Rukh Khan, also the producer, eventually opened up his vision for the movie.

The film, set for a Diwali release, is based on the classic good versus evil plot with few different dimensions added to the superhero world.

"It is about good winning over evil. The film justifies the basic plot around `What if something that was meant to be played starts playing with your life`. As you venture into the film, you realise how this single line plot expands itself."

The trailer for the Bollywood movie "RA One" is "insane" looking, I'm frankly not sure if that means it looks really, really good or if it's got train wreck written all over it...

Can this Bollywood Superhero "RA ONE" do what some Hollywood Superheroes should have done?

The trailer for the Bollywood movie "RA One" is "insane" looking, I'm frankly not sure if that means it looks really, really good or if it's got train wreck written all over it...

If the name Shah Rukh Khan means anything to you at all, it could be that a few years back he was famously detained by American airport security, something that he didn't take too kindly to and made a big fuss about. Welcome to America, buddy. Ironically, "RA One" was initially supposed to shoot in Miami, before budget considerations sent it overseas to London instead...Way before London started to burn down that is.

So what's it all about? I have no idea, but apparently Shah Rukh Khan plays some robot dude who fights folks, runs around really fast, and other cool robotical, technical looking stuff. Hey, if nothing else, the trailer is kinda cool, and it certainly looks freaking expensive.

India will be able to access "RA One" first on October 26, 2011. The film originally had a Summer release date, but apparently there was too much post-production work left to be done on the many special effects, thus the delay.

'Ra.One' is touted to be one of the biggest money spinners in recent times and from the scale at which Shahrukh is planning to publicise it , there will be a clamour for tickets when it releases in the month of October.

You're probably die-hard Shah Rukh Khan fan today. But if you had seen SRK during his teenage years, in all probability you wouldn't have given him a second look.

While his three-piece suit is quite dapper, we really can't say the same about him. Nonetheless, Shah Rukh Khan's vintage picture does bring a smile to your face. Guess his college gang was quite happening ;)

Delnaaz features in Ra.One

Chubby, ebullient Delnaaz Paul isn't sitting around whining or complaining or getting depressed after her separation from Rajeev Paul. She isn't letting her personal life affect her profession and her work proves it. Delnaaz will soon be seen in Masti channel's new sitcom, Gajab Family.

She will also be seen sharing screen space with Shah Rukh Khan in his next movie Ra.One.
Delnaaz was happy to share the rise in her work graph. "I have already finished shooting for the film Ra.One. Though it's not a big and prominent role, it was fun to be part of the movie. And it was an awesome experience shooting with SRK!"

This isn't the first time Delnaaz has shot with the actor. Earlier, she'd worked with SRK in the blockbuster Kal Ho Na Ho. Apart from Gajab Family, Del is also hosting a show on Food Food, the 24-hour food channel on television. When asked about her role in the movie Delnaaz grinned, "The role is just an appearance where I pass through the frame. But to know for what and how, audiences will have to wait and watch!"

Ra.One continues to surprise the Indian audience with new innovations on a continued basis. Red Chillies Entertainment has declared a tie-up with Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) to build a full cycle game on PlayStation platform. The video game version of the movie will be called Ra. One - The Game and will be available on PS2 and PS3 (through PSN download).

This is a newer direction for Bollywood to create a win-win strategy of both promoting the film as well as create a brand extension strategy for Ra.One. The film, with its superhero touches, is appropriate to seamlessly use the PlayStation platform and connect with the Indian youth.

Speaking on the game, Shah Rukh Khan said, "It has been a dream since childhood to be somehow involved in videogame designing or making them as all kids dream of. So now many years down the line the dream is fulfilled! Double pleasure gaming and movies....Ra.One on PS 2 & PS3...feeling like a kid all over. Hope everyone enjoys the game and also the movie. The game is awesome fun...G.One looks cool...so does Ra.One and Kareena in an avatar which everyone will enjoy....too thrilled. Finally can play a game...be a gamer and the game itself...YAY!!!"

Red Chillies Entertainment recognizes the importance of the gaming route to connect with the Indian audience and has been involved in the pre-production stage. To maintain closeness of the game storyline with that of the film, it has been actually written by Red Chillies team and Shah Rukh Khan in particular.

Ra.One- The Game will be published by SCEE and will be released in Sep'11 before the film release. SCEE is committed to a certain high decibel launch of the game and will establish creatively the key characters of the film through the game itself. This is an innovative business model of almost using the game launch (in addition to the music launch) to create a high level of excitement and expectation for Ra.One as the film.

Closeness of the characters, the powers and key characteristics can well be understood from the sneak preview of the characterization of SRK as G.One in the film and in the game. Following the tie-up declaration by SCEE, this is the first look at the game character of Shah Rukh Khan with a comparison against the film characterization.

Elaborateness of a PlayStation game has been a key decision factor behind Red Chillies Entertainment looking at the tie-up. Ra.One- The Game has seen a development cycle of about a year and will be a very welcome contrast to the low budget, transactional mini games that appear on the internet or the mobile platforms to promote various films.

Stars perform even though the city is besieged by rioting

While Bollywood has been expressing solidarity with London during the ongoing riots, a bunch of big names from tinsel town flew to the city to be part of a corporate event on Tuesday. Shah Rukh Khan was among those invited for the event, which took place at the O2 Arena.
Besides SRK, singer Akon and former tennis player Boris Becker too attended as
special guests. From Bollywood, names like Anushka Sharma and Ranbir Kapoor added more starpower to the evening, while AR Rahman, who is currently in London, also made a brief appearance. Akon's DJ Benny-Demus, who is also good friends with SRK, joined them on stage for the performance.
A source tells us that the event was successful despite fear about fresh riots breaking out. We hear that Ranbir, who has been in London for a few days, couldn't step out much, while SRK landed just a day prior to the event.
Says our source, "Everyone was obviously worried, but the event was successfully concluded. A day before the show, a few artists were tweeting about it and trying to gauge how bad the situation was, but things were okay. Shah Rukh even danced on stage with Akon and his lively presence peps up every event he is a part of."

Katrina Kaif is candid enough to confess that it is more fun working with the younger heroes than the older ones.

In the beginning of her career she worked with senior actors like Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. She was paired with the younger actor like Ranbir Kapoor in the recent past in films like Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and Raajneeti that were successful, and then she did a Yashraj film with Imran Khan - Mere Brother Ki Dulhan which is about to release.

"I don't think anyone will mind if I say that it is very different working with older heroes because the age difference is of about 20 years, and just about two to three years with the younger heroes with who you can even do nonsense on the sets. For instance, Imran would come on the sets, he would kick me playfully...at times there would be nothing constructive what we were doing..there is so much bachpana.."

And one senior actor Katrina is terrified working with is Salman's arch foe Shah Rukh Khan. She will soon romance Shah Rukh on the big screen. "I don't know what it will be like working with Shah Rukh but I have heard that he makes his heroines very comfortable which is good. I am only on hi, hello terms with him and now I am doing Yash Chopra's romantic film with him! I look at him longingly but am always short of words while in his company," says Katrina.

When pointed out that lot of actresses of her age claim to have grown up watching SRK movies, Katrina says that she is an exception. "I have not grown up watching his movies at all. He is now, he is there and I am here now and I look at it from that angle. And I definitely don't think Shah Rukh Khan has seen me growing up either," she jokes.

Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, Ra.One, directed by Anubhav Sinha and starring Shah Rukh Khan, Arjun Rampal and Kareena Kapoor is one of the films that fans are eagerly awaiting to hit cinemas this year. It is a superhero tale that includes out of the world special effects and action sequences and is apparently one of the most expensive films made in Hindi cinema. As we reported first, part of the really cool promotions and tie-ins for the upcoming superhero film Ra.One, is the development of a Sony Playstation Game for both PS2 and PS3. Developed by Trine, this is a first for an Indian film and from what we hear the game is fab! According to Bottomline Media, "We are very excited about the Sony Playstation-Ra.One Game association. For the first time ever in India you see The SRK on the Playsation game." So, when can you get your hands on a copy? September 11th!

Based on an idea by Shah Rukh Khan, it features voiceovers by SRK, Arjun Rampal and Kareena Kapoor. The game's adventure is a prequel to the film: you get to meet the characters, learn their super powers and get immersed in the world of Ra.One, before the film even releases in October. So you can play as SRK's G.One, Arjun Rampal Ra.One and Shah Rukh told us exclusively earlier there is even a good and a bad Kareena character!

Shah Rukh Khan is very excited about this game, "It has been a dream since childhood to be somehow involved in videogame designing or making them as all kids dream of. So now many years down the line the dream is fulfilled!"

Adding, "Double pleasure gaming and movies….Ra.One on PS 2 & PS3…feeling like a kid all over. Hope everyone enjoys the game and also the movie. The game is awesome fun…G.One looks cool…so does Ra.One and Kareena in an avatar which everyone will enjoy….too thrilled. Finally can play a game…be a gamer and the game itself…YAY!!!"

We say YAY too and that we can't wait to play the game to hold us over until we can see the film when it releases on October 26th.

We have some exclusive screenshots of the game! Check out how cool and how good SRK looks in the virtual world too!

Sony PlayStation (PS) has 80 per cent share in the Indian game console market. Sounds good, but Sony isn't celebrating – yet. That's because the market is still tiny (India has 2 per cent video game penetration), comprising only the upper layer of the SEC audience. This is in sharp contrast to the 60-70 per cent penetration in markets like the UK.

So Sony PS now wants to go mass with a vengeance with localised content that appeals to the broader audience. As a beginning, it has teamed up with Ra.One, Shahrukh Khan's much anticipated sci-fi movie slated to release this September.

Atindriya Bose, country manger-India, Sony PS, says, Sony will develop a video game, called 'Ra.One- The Game.' "We have developed a full cycle console game which offers more than 20 game play environments," he says. The total cost of development and promotion of the game is over $ 1 million.

The game, whose story line has been written by Khan himself, will be launched in co-ordination with the actual film release. The game will be available in two formats — PS2 platform as a DVD based game and PS3 as a digital download from PlayStation Network (PSN). "We are likely to introduce the PS2 game at Rs 499 with an objective to broad base our market. However, the price point of the PSN download based PS3 format is yet to be decided", adds Bose. Normally downloads from PSN cost Rs 500 to Rs 2000. Apart from India, Sony will launch the game in Europe, West Asia and Australia and plans to sell 100,000 odd units of the game by June next year.

Apart from heavy promotion (some of it will involve the superstar himself), Sony PS will make sure that the game is available across 2000 retail outlets in the country.

Bose says Sony is also exploring similar opportunities to expand the market . The Indian game console market is estimated at Rs 500 crore, growing at a CAGR of 35 per cent. Sony PS sells roughly around 350,000 units in India every year. The company believes that games supported by strong intellectual property IP and heavy advertisement will sell 10 times more than the number of similar other popular game franchise on PS formats. Sony PS expects to double its volume turnover in India in the next three years.

Working on this strategy, Sony has already published 10 Indian content based games in partnership with local game development studios over last two-three years. The range of games include interesting themes like Desi Adda, Street Cricket, Cart Kings (cart racing game) and Tinkle comics' popular characters like Suppandi and Shikari Shambu.
